Italy Day #2

So today we got to move our stuff across town to an apartment. And we actually wheeled all of our stuff across town, which was pretty interesting on cobblestone. The apartments are super awesome and very spacious, which surprised me after seeing how tiny our hotel was yesterday.

As for food today, I tried gelato today. Complete mouthgasm. I had the strawberry in a wafer cone and it was good and cheap. I also tried ravioli stuffed with prawns and scallops tonight at a place called Cafe Pizziato.
In other news, I finally have access to my funds through ATM after some drama with stupid Regions, so that relieves a lot of stress.
Today has been pretty crazy and I’ve been all over the place in my thoughts so if this post seems a bit scatterbrained that would be why. I feel like I’m getting a pretty good feel for the city already, which is funny considering how horrible I am with directions. But hopefully I’ll be loading up some pictures to facebook if the internet doesn’t prove to be too slow for that kind of thing (it was struggling a bit with fb chat earlier).
But anyway, it’s 10:15 here so I’ll probably be heading back to the apartment soon. Class starts tomorrow, which is exciting but weird because it’s going to be primarily architecture-based. But we’ll see how it goes I guess. Goodnight American friends, keep chillin (especially considering that it’s only like 3 in the afternoon there).

ITALY!!!

So I guess I’m in Italy. I got here all by my lonesome at around 5:30 this morning, and waited in the Milan airport until my friend Mamie got there around 11:00. Luckily, she was on the same flight as our teachers and we were able to get tickets to Vicenza way easier because of it.
I got murdered by the exchange rate plus the convenience fee of changing my cash at the airport because the dollar sucks penis right now. I changed $120 into E65. Kill me. Anyway, I used some of it to buy a bus ticket, train ticket, and (of course) a Coke at the airport. I watched alot of Anthony Bourdain and Samantha Brown Travel Channel specials that I downloaded to my iPod while I waited, so I was already pretty excited by the time I left the airport.
I’m staying tonight in a hotel called Due Mori in Vicenza. It’s really old-school and down a little side street from the downtown area. It was surprisingly busy, but very cool and just ancient-feeling. Me and a few of the other people in our group went and ate at a pizzeria ristorante (meaning it wasn’t a traittoria, which would be the equivalent of a subway or something. Ristorante means that it is somewhere between a Chili’s or an Outback). I had some fire-ass pizza there called the Pizza Sorrentina that had all these crazy cheeses on it with tomatoes and margherrita sauce tomatoes.
So tomorrow we’re going to go check out the studio, and hopefully I’ll be able to keep the updates steady on this blog, so check back often and whenever you’re bored!
Till then, keep chillin.

I’m going to Italy. AH!

So I’m bored and I smell Italian food for some reason at work so I’m going to write about Italy. It’s getting close, I’m super pumped and I’m pretty sure it’ll be the coolest thing that I’ve ever done. I’ll probably be writing on this more often when I’m over that and have cooler stories to tell than I do when I’m in freakin’ Starkville.

Speaking of stories in Starkville, the roads where I live are so bad that I honestly have to drive on the wrong side of the road when I’m leaving the neighborhood. Luckily, the genius people who run the place have filled the potholes with dirt, so that next time I’ll just sink my car down into an insane amount of mud instead of simply breaking the axle in half when I’m not paying attention.

I want to graduate and move somewhere that believes in the power of asphalt.

L.o.t.D.

Lyrics of the day: “Ripple” (version on American Beauty)

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshineAnd my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,

Would you hear my voice come thru the music,

Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It’s a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,

Perhaps they’re better left unsung.

I don’t know, don’t really care

Let there be songs to fill the air.

Ripple in still water,

When there is no pebble tossed,

Nor wind to blow.

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,

If your cup is full may it be again,

Let it be known there is a fountain,

That was not made by the hands of men.

There is a road, no simple highway,

Between the dawn and the dark of night,

And if you go no one may follow,

That path is for your steps alone.

Ripple in still water,

When there is no pebble tossed,

Nor wind to blow.

But if you fall you fall alone,

If you should stand then who’s to guide you?

If I knew the way I would take you home.

Lyrics of the Day

Today I’ve probably listened to “Brokedown Palace” from the American Beauty album at least 5 times already. So here are the tasty lyrics.

“Fare you well, my honey, fare you well my only true one.
All the birds that were singing are flown, except you alone.

Going to leave this brokedown palace,
On my hand and knees, I will roll, roll, roll.
Make myself a bed in the waterside,
In my time, I will roll, roll roll.

In a bed, in a bed, by the waterside I will lay my head.
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.

River going to take me, sing sweet and sleepy,
sing me sweet and sleepy all the way back home.
It’s a far gone lullaby, sung many years ago.
Mama, mama many worlds I’ve come since I first left home.

Goin’ home, goin’ home, by the riverside I will rest my bones,
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.

Going to plant a weeping willow,
On the bank’s green edge it will grow, grow, grow.
Sing a lullaby beside the water,
Lovers come and go, the river roll, roll, roll.

Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell,
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.”

Enjoy the weekend and the outdoors. And keep chillin.

March of The Dead

So, it’s that time of the year once again, for the second annual “March of The Dead”! It’s pretty crazy that it’s already been a whole year since we did that first one, but anyway…

I think that it’d be pretty awesome if we documented this March on here. For a starter idea of how to go about doing this, how’s about we all start posting, at the very least, once a day with some lyrics of a song we happened to listen to that day. Eh?

I’ll start: the day is young, but so far the lyrics of the day were from Sugar Magnolia (the version on the American Beauty album.

Sugar magnolia, blossoms blooming, heads all empty and I don’t care,
Saw my baby down by the river, knew she’d have to come up soon for air.

Sweet blossom come on, under the willow, we can have high times if you’ll abide
We can discover the wonders of nature, rolling in the rushes down by the riverside.

She’s got everything delightful, she’s got everything I need,
Takes the wheel when I’m seeing double, pays my ticket when I speed

She comes skimmin’ through rays of violet, she can wade in a drop of dew,
She don’t come and I don’t follow, waits backstage while I sing to you.

Well, she can dance a Cajun rhythm, jump like a willys in four wheel drive.
She’s a summer love for spring, fall and winter. She can make happy any man alive.

Sugar magnolia, ringing that bluebell, caught up in sunlight, come on out singing
I’ll walk you in the sunshine, come on honey, come along with me.

She’s got everything delightful, she’s got everything I need,
A breeze in the pines and the sun and bright moonlight, lazing in the sunshine yes
indeed.

Sometimes when the cuckoo’s crying, when the moon is half way down,
Sometimes when the night is dying, I take me out and I wander around, I wander
’round.

Sunshine, daydream, walking in the tall trees, going where the wind goes
Blooming like a red rose, breathing more freely,
Ride our singin’, I’ll walk you in the morning sunshine
Sunshine, daydream. Sunshine, daydream. Walking in the sunshine.”

So I’m still alive, but this blog is looking pretty pale and sickly. The last post was about snow. Shit. So we need to revive this thing, starting soon-ish. Even if there’s nothing to write about, odds are we could post some cool links or somcing. So let’s get to it. And Josh, if you read this, stories from Colorado would be super spiffy. Keep chillin.

Snow!

Yeah so I definitely just figured out how to put falling snow on this blog. WordPress put out a cool extra just for the Christmas season, so as you read all the random shit on this blog now you can enjoy snow. You know that you’re officially out of school when you have nothing better to do than add digital snow to your webpage. Keep chillin.

So the last post on this page was awhile back. It’s a super-busy time of year I guess, so that’s acceptable.

In other news, I love Christmas music. Some people don’t like it, but how can you not at least get a little satisfaction out of some jazz version of Winter Wonderland or the Muppet version of Jingle Bell Rock? And I like holiday smells too, like cookies and pies and random scented candles and even musty Christmas decorations. And Christmas lights! Oh shit, I am a sucker for Christmas lights for real. Every year since I can remember we drive around listening to The River and check out other peoples’ absurdly complicated Christmas decorations.

Speaking of absurd Christmas decorations, I remember one Christmas break in high school when me, Gerry, Mark, and Adam all spent the night at my house. We ‘camped’ outside in the front yard, (mainly because we wanted to smoke cigarettes and go streaking, i think) and our neighbor down the street had a gigantic blow-up Santa in his front yard. Like a 10 foot tall one, tethered to the ground with rope. And it glowed. So they was basically just asking us to fuck with it, and Adam and Mark totally went over there and double-teamed it. Adam pushed on its back and Mark grabbed the face and pulled it down. Before we knew it, Santa appeared to be receiving an anal pounding from Adam while giving Mark a bearded blowjob.

After we finally recovered from that completely ridiculous episode, me and Gerry thought we could best their perfomance for sure. I remember running up to the Santa Claus balloon thing, but then I tripped over one of the support ropes and hit my face across another. I was too embarrassed to molest Santa.

But yeah so Merry Christmas, do something fun over Christmas Break and keep chillin.

A Wonderful Waste of Time

So I’ve become a big fan of the FAIL Blog recently. It’s just a blog with mostly pictures and some video that is dedicated to capturing instances of people doing stupid things. It’s straight up glorious. So go to http://failblog.org/ and waste some time. Keep chillin.
